Environment Agency Rod licence
Before you go fishing in any fresh water river, lake, canal or pond
you must have a rod licence issued by the Environment agency.
All anglers over the age of 12 must be in possession
of a rod licence before they go fishing.
If you are aged between 12 and 16 you can purchase
a concessionary licence at a lower cost than a full adult licence.
Rod licences cover all waters in England and
Wales and allow you to use up to two rods at any one time. This
only applies if the angling club or association who control the
water allow - please check.
When you have a licence you must -
Carry it with you at all times when fishing.
Show your rod licence to an Environment Agency
Bailiff when asked to do so. All EA bailiffs carry identification
if you are unsure about the person then ask to see this.
Follow any local bylaws that apply. A copy
of these is available by contacting your local Environment Agency
office.
A rod licence is valid from April 1st and expires
on March 31st.
Fishing without a current rod licence is breaking
the law you will be fined if you get caught.
